Resurrection Easter Sunday, April 5, Head Coach Cori Close and UCLABruinsWBB deflated HC Dawn Staley and #SCGamecocksWBB 79 – 51 to win the NCAAD1WBBChampionship 2026 – their FIRST EVER WBB National Title in the history of the program.

However; Fri., Apr. 3, Coach Staley and SCWBB defeated HC Geno Auriemma and UCONNHuskiesWBB 62 – 48 to propel themselves from the NCAAD1WBB semi-finals into the 2026 WBB Championship Game.

Coach Aurriemma did NOT accept the loss with a spirit of sportsmanship.

In fact, during the final moments of the game, HE initiated a very HEATED exchange with HER, and; left the court BEFORE the traditional post-game handshakes with the opposing coach and team.
